Laura James - I.D.T.A Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz & Cheerleading. A U.K.A Freestyle
I'm Laura and I am the principal of Dance Works. I have always loved to dance and started attending classes from the age of 2. I enjoyed all areas of dance and took part in many competitions and shows as I was growing up.
I attended Canon Slade secondary School. After completeing G.C.S.E's I went on to further my dancing at Phil Winston Theatre Works in Blackpool.
After completing my dance performers course I realised my passion was to teach. I always assisted classes at the local dance school and when the opportunity came along to take over the school at 17 I took it, I have never looked back!!!
I have gained several Associate dance teachers qualifications in the I.D.T.A and U.K.A, also my ETM (exercise to music) and fitness class qualifications. Over the last nine years I have built up the dance school to 70 pupils and extended the timetable over two nights and Saturday.
Along side running Dance Works I teach in Primary and Secondary schools delivering dance classes in and out of school time. I also work at David Lloyd Leisure Bolton. I teach a variety of fitness classes and also am the Family Activities Co-ordinator there.
Rebecca Fairhurst - BA Hons Dance
I'm Rebecca and dancing has been my passion since my first dance class at the age of 3. I've loved dancing ever since, and have been taking part in dancing exams and performing in shows throughout my life.
I took my GCSEs at The Swinton High School gaining an A in Dance, I then moved onto Pendleton College where I completed several A Levels including Dance, at this point in my education I realised that dance would be my future. So I decided to further my education, at Edge Hill University completing the BA Hons Dance course with a 2nd Class Degree (2:1).
Whilst completing my degree, I helped assist the children at my local dance school and I also had the opportunity to deliver cross curricular dance classes within several primary schools, on topics such as; Maths and History. I also am Arts Award Advisor at the level of Discover and Explore which aims to get children introduced and involved to the various forms of The Arts.
I wish to continue my development as a teacher in order to give the pupils the best possible dance education and allow them to discover their own passion and love for dance!
